pictures from europe #14

I had an amazing day in Montmarte, France. The day before, as we were roaming the streets of Paris, the weather has been terrible. Snow, harsh winds and sleet had our umbrellas turning inside out, and it was definitely less than ideal! The next day we planned to go to the small town on a hill right outside Paris, rain or shine (or snow), and we were so lucky to have gorgeous weather! For obvious reasons, my favorite part of Montmartre was the square behind Sacré-Coeur Basilica where artists gather to sell their paintings. “This ‘Place du Tertre’ is where the legends of 20th century art used to roam. Now it’s filled with watercolors, portrait sketchers and caricaturists. Picasso, Modigliani, Van Gogh and countless others lived and worked in these narrow streets.”
